SERVICES
Deep Tissue Massage – Deep tissue massage is applied to both the superficial and deep layers of muscles, fascia, and other structures. The sessions are often quite intense as a result of the deliberate, focused work. The deepest pressure is mainly concentrated in specific areas of complaint, and will vary on the rest of the body. Includes acupuncture.
Maternity Massage – Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and employs a special pillow to allow pregnant women to lay face down even at full term. Includes acupuncture.
Labor Induction Acupuncture – Acupuncture to induce labor is a subtle but effective treatment option to prepare baby and mom for a safe and smooth delivery. Many of the acupuncture points we are unable to use during pregnancy due to their stimulating effects on the body are the exact ones we do use during labor induction.

WHAT IS ACCUPUNCTURE?
It is all about balance and bringing your body into its optimum functioning state . Acupuncture and all forms of oriental bodywork have been around for thousands of years used to treat depression as well as keeping your body tuned and working properly before disease sets in. Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that has been practiced for centuries. It's based on the theory that energy, called chi , flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians. Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your chi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence chi and help it flow back into balance. Acupuncture is done by putting very thin needles into your skin at certain points on your body. This is done to influence the energy flow. Sometimes heat, pressure, or mild electrical current is used along with needles. Your practitioner will give you an exam, look at your tongue, feel your pulse and ask questions about your pain and how well you are functioning, also ask about your overall health. Then look for the places (called points) on your body to access the chi that is blocked or not flowing right. Each of the points relates to certain health problems or body functions. Your acupuncturist will look for landmarks on your body—using certain muscles or bones, for example—to find the points so that he or she can place the needles. After the provider finds the points, he or she will quickly tap very thin needles into your skin. Some may be placed deeper than others, depending on believes is needed to restore the flow of chi. Every practitioner is different, but in most cases treatment lasts for 15 minutes to an hour. You may have several visits to complete your treatment. Some people have ongoing visits. The things that are often treated in my practice are Allergies, menstrual disorder such as PMS, hot-flashes irregular periods, pain, depression or anxiety.
WHAT IS BODYWORK?
Massage and bodywork can help reduce or relieve chronic muscular pain and tension, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce physical fatigue and stress, and promote faster healing of injuries. Maternity massage can help to reduce discomfort associated with pregnancy, ranging from sciatic pain to foot swelling. Deep Tissue Massage can help to rehabilitate injuries, or reduce the effects of old injuries and chronic conditions by breaking down scar tissue and increasing range of motion.
There is no specific interval that is required, it is very much up to the individual. When rehabilitating an injury, it is recommended to have weekly sessions for several weeks, tapering to every other week, and eventually once or twice a month. Many people receive a weekly massage, while others may only manage a couple of massages a year. How often one receives bodywork is entirely up to them, dependent upon their goals for the work and what their circumstances allow.
